The Advantages of Booking Your Destination Wedding Early

Many folks who book vacations tend to do so last minute. While a destination wedding has the elements of a vacation, there are various essential considerations differentiating them. Read on to find out the differences and some very valid reasons to book your destination wedding early.

Many of our clients expect to find the best rates closer to the travel date. This is commonly true because airlines, hotels and resorts offer discounts to fill any empty seats and rooms so they don’t lose money, unless it is during a peak season or holiday where availability can be scarce.

However, it’s important to note that a regular “escape” typically involves booking for only 1 person, a couple or sometimes a small group, as in family or friends.

With a destination wedding, though, we’re dealing with a minimum of 10 people, more commonly groups of 30, and for some of the larger groups, we’ve helped over 150 people get to their destination wedding!

As with every life event, organizing a group of people together in one place at the same time gets more complicated with every invitation. And that’s not even counting events where travel and accommodation is necessary.

While you could wait until the last minute to book your destination wedding, and you might (just might) save a couple of bucks (literally), you’d be taking several risks:

·     Not enough space on the flights that you require

·     Limited availability at the hotel/resort; especially the cost effective room categories

·     Financially sensitive guests may not be able to shell out the lump sum and would benefit from a payment plan

·     Wedding date and time may be booked if you wait too long

For instance, most hotels in the spring months of April, May & June or the Fall months of September & October are booked out a year in advance; if you want a sunset wedding on a Saturday during these months you need to do so a least 8 -10 months in advance.

We’re seeing a rise in advance bookings because couples want the early booking bonuses, reduced group rate, confirmed wedding date and time, rooms ready for guests to occupy, have their financially sensitive guests attend by using our payment plans and would rather pay a little more to offset the potential risks of waiting.
